Who started this Christmas stuff

( another timely email sent to me )
Who Started This Christmas Stuff?

A woman was out Christmas shopping with her two children. After many hours of looking at row after row of toys and everything else imaginable; and after hours of hearing both her children asking for everything they saw on those many shelves, she finally made it to the elevator with her two kids.

She was feeling what so many feel during the holiday season time of the year – overwhelming pressure to go to every party, every housewarming, taste all the holiday food and treats, getting that perfect gift for every single person on our shopping list, making sure we don’t forget anyone on our card list, and the pressure of making sure we respond to everyone who sent us a card.

Finally the elevator doors opened, and there was already a crowd in the car. She pushed her way into the car and dragged her two kids in with her and all the bags of stuff. When the doors closed, she couldn’t take it anymore and she stated, “Whoever started this whole Christmas thing should be found, strung up and shot.”

From the back of the car, everyone heard a quiet, calm voice respond, “Don’t worry, we already crucified Him.”

For the rest of the trip down in the elevator, it was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. This year, don’t forget to keep “the One who started this whole Christmas thing” in your every thought, deed and words. If we all did it, just think of how different this whole world would be.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

The Gas Station (A Christmas Story) ** Email share **

The old man sat in his gas station on a cold Christmas Eve. He hadn’t been anywhere in years since his wife had passed away. He had no decorations, no tree, no lights. It was just another day to him. He didn’t hate Christmas, just couldn’t find a reason to celebrate. There were no children in his life. His wife had gone.

He was sitting there looking at the snow that had been falling for the last hour and wondering what it was all about when the door opened and a homeless man stepped through. Instead of throwing the man out, George, Old George as he was known by his customers, told the man to come and sit by the space heater and warm up.

“Thank you, but I don’t mean to intrude,” said the stranger. “I see you’re busy. I’ll just go”

“Not without something hot in your belly,” George turned and opened a wide mouth Thermos and handed it to the stranger. “It ain’t much, but it’s hot and tasty. Stew. Made it myself. When you’re done there’s coffee and it’s fresh.”

Just at that moment he heard the “ding” of the driveway bell.

“Excuse me be right back,” George said.

There in the driveway was an old 53 Chevy. Steam was rolling out of the front. The driver was panicked.

“Mister can you help me!” said the driver with a deep Spanish accent. “My wife is with child and my car is broken.”

George opened the hood. It was bad. The block looked cracked from the cold; the car was dead.

“You ain’t going in this thing,” George said as he turned away.

“But mister. Please help….”

The door of the office closed behind George as he went in. George went to the office wall and got the keys to his old truck, and went back outside. He walked around the building and opened the garage, started the truck and drove it around to where the couple was waiting.

“Here, take my truck,” he said. “She ain’t the best thing you ever looked at, but she runs real good.”

George helped put the woman in the truck and watched as it sped off into the night. George turned and walked back inside the office.

“Glad I gave em the truck. Their tires were shot too. That ‘ol truck has brand new……..”

George thought he was talking to the stranger, but the man had gone. The thermos was on the desk, empty with a used coffee cup beside it.

“Well, at least he got something in his belly,” George thought.

George went back outside to see if the old Chevy would start. It cranked slowly, but it started. He pulled it into the garage where the truck had been. He thought he would tinker with it for something to do. Christmas Eve meant no customers. He discovered the the block hadn’t cracked, it was just the bottom hose on the radiator.

“Well, shoot, I can fix this,” he said to himself. So he put a new one on.

“Those tires ain’t gonna get ‘em through the winter either.” He took the snow treads off of his wife’s old Lincoln. They were like new and he wasn’t going to drive the car.

As he was working he heard shots being fired. He ran outside and beside a police car an officer lay on the cold ground. Bleeding from the left shoulder, the officer moaned, “Help me.”

George helped the officer inside as he remembered the training he had received in the Army as a medic. He knew the wound needed attention.

“Pressure to stop the bleeding,” he thought. The uniform company had been there that morning and had left clean shop towels. He used those and duct tape to bind the wound.

“Hey, they say duct tape can fix anythin’,” he said, trying to make the policeman feel at ease.

“Something for pain,” George thought. All he had was the pills he used for his back. “These ought to work.”

He put some water in a cup and gave the policeman the pills.

“You hang in there. I’m going to get you an ambulance.”

The phone was dead.

“Maybe I can get one of your buddies on that there talk box out in your car.”

He went out only to find that a bullet had gone into the dashboard destroying the two way radio. He went back in to find the policeman sitting up.

“Thanks,” said the officer. “You could have left me there. The guy that shot me is still in the area.”

George sat down beside him.

“I would never leave an injured man in the Army and I ain’t gonna leave you.” George pulled back the bandage to check for bleeding. “Looks worse than what it is. Bullet passed right through ‘ya. Good thing it missed the important stuff though. I think with time your gonna be right as rain.”

George got up and poured a cup of coffee.

“How do you take it?” he asked.

“None for me,” said the officer.

“Oh, yer gonna drink this. Best in the city. Too bad I ain’t got no donuts.”

The officer laughed and winced at the same time.

The front door of the office flew open. In burst a young man with a gun.

“Give me all your cash! Do it now!” the young man yelled. His hand was shaking and George could tell that he had never done anything like this before.

“That’s the guy that shot me!” exclaimed the officer.

“Son, why are you doing this?” asked George. “You need to put the cannon away. Somebody else might get hurt.”

The young man was confused. “Shut up old man, or I’ll shoot you, too. Now give me the cash!”
The cop was reaching for his gun.

“Put that thing away,” George said to the cop. “We got one too many in here now.”

He turned his attention to the young man.

“Son, it’s Christmas Eve. If you need the money, well then, here. It ain’t much but it’s all I got. Now put that pee shooter away.”

George pulled $150 out of his pocket and handed it to the young man, reaching for the barrel of the gun at the same time. The young man released his grip on the gun, fell to his knees and began to cry.

“I’m not very good at this am I? All I wanted was to buy something for my wife and son,” he went on. “I’ve lost my job. My rent is due. My car got repossessed last week…”
George handed the gun to the cop.

“Son, we all get in a bit of squeeze now and then. The road gets hard sometimes, but we make it through the best we can.”

He got the young man to his feet, and sat him down on a chair across from the cop.
“Sometimes we do stupid things.” George handed the young man a cup of coffee. “Being stupid is one of the things that makes us human. Comin’ in here with a gun ain’t the answer. Now sit there and get warm and we’ll sort this thing out.”

The young man had stopped crying. He looked over to the cop. “Sorry I shot you. It just went off. I’m sorry officer.”

“Shut up and drink your coffee.” the cop said.

George could hear the sounds of sirens outside. A police car and an ambulance skidded to a halt. Two cops came through the door, guns drawn.

“Chuck! You ok?” one of the cops asked the wounded officer.

“Not bad for a guy who took a bullet. How did you find me?”

“GPS locator in the car. Best thing since sliced bread. Who did this?” the other cop asked as he approached the young man.

Chuck answered him, “I don’t know. The guy ran off into the dark. Just dropped his gun and ran.”

George and the young man both looked puzzled at each other.

“That guy works here,” the wounded cop continued.

“Yep,” George said. “Just hired him this morning. Boy lost his job.”

The paramedics came in and loaded Chuck onto the stretcher. The young man leaned over the wounded cop and whispered,

“Why?”

Chuck just said, “Merry Christmas boy. And you too, George, and thanks for everything.”

“Well, looks like you got one doozy of a break there. That ought to solve some of your problems.”

George went into the back room and came out with a box. He pulled out a ring box.
“Here you go. Something for the little woman. I don’t think Martha would mind. She said it would come in handy some day.”

The young man looked inside to see the biggest diamond ring he ever saw.

“I can’t take this,” said the young man. “It means something to you.”

“And now it means something to you,” replied George. “I got my memories. That’s all I need.”

George reached into the box again. An airplane, a car and a truck appeared next. They were toys that the oil company had left for him to sell.

“Here’s something for that little man of yours.”

The young man began to cry again as he handed back the $150 that the old man had handed him earlier.

“And what are you supposed to buy Christmas dinner with? You keep that too,” George said. “Now git home to your family.”

The young man turned with tears streaming down his face.

“I’ll be here in the morning for work, if that job offer is still good.”

“Nope. I’m closed Christmas day,” George said. “See ya the day after.”

George turned around to find that the stranger had returned.

“Where’d you come from? I thought you left?”

“I have been here. I have always been here,” said the stranger. “You say you don’t celebrate Christmas. Why?”

“Well, after my wife passed away I just couldn’t see what all the bother was. Puttin’ up a tree and all seemed a waste of a good pine tree. Bakin’ cookies like I used to with Martha just wasn’t the same by myself and besides I was getting a little chubby.”

The stranger put his hand on George’s shoulder.

“But you do celebrate the holiday, George. You gave me food and drink and warmed me when I was cold and hungry. The woman with child will bear a son and he will become a great doctor. The policeman you helped will go on to save 19 people from being killed by terrorists. The young man who tried to rob you will make you a rich man and not take any for himself. That is the spirit of the season and you keep it as good as any man.”

George was taken aback by all this stranger had said.

“And how do you know all this?” asked the old man.

“Trust me, George. I have the inside track on this sort of thing. And when your days are done you will be with Martha again.”

The stranger moved toward the door. “If you will excuse me, George, I have to go now. I have to go home where there is a big celebration planned.”

George watched as the old leather jacket and the torn pants that the stranger was wearing turned into a white robe. A golden light began to fill the room.

“You see, George… it’s my birthday. Merry Christmas.”

George fell to his knees and replied, “Happy Birthday, Lord.”

Prayer Request

I have a prayer request. There’s a lady I’ve known forever. She’s very sick.
On top of that, she’s being abused by those to whom she has given
everything.. Lies about her abound, and seem to come from all sides. Just
breaks my heart. Seems there’s nothing I can do alone. But maybe, if we join
in and lift her up together we can heal her. She’s well over 200 years old,
but way too young to die. Her name is* America * … and I love her.

What about class warfare?

Class warfare has been a buzzword for a while now, Obama is making sure of it. And now I ran into this in my inbox, before I copy and paste this article from an unknown author. I will say this as it was mentioned just yesterday on Glenn Beck TV, and I have felt this way for years. There are greedy poor people, the one’s who think that they are entitled to hand outs, not hand ups. I am not proud of this but at this time this family receives food stamps, from the talk I have heard from fellow conservatives they think those on this sort of thing are liberal.

I am NOT liberal, and I want  off of these food stamps, but a diet of hot dogs, and ramen noodles isn’t good for diabetics. We have been scraping by on a bare bones budget, and finally just got tired of the tears and heart ache of trying to make a meal out of nothing. So here I am, in a system I can’t get out of due to the fact there is no jobs, and Obama has made damn sure there is none.

I will qualify myself, I treat the food stamps like gold, I have preserved food for later use if on sale, I have and do use coupons to stretch the food stamps until the end of the month. I make most of my meals from scratch, as it tastes better, and is healthier for me.

So to the conservatives who think ALL people who get assistance at this time are for this class warfare junk, you are sadly mistaken.  And to the liberals who feel it is the wealthy who are the evil ones, ask Michel Moore if he is willing to give up some of his hard cash.  But for me, I see no option at this time, until a job offered to me, I need to use food stamps.  I have sent out more than 100 applications to various places, still no good leads. And I have not refused a job offer, or intend too even let that thought cross my mind.

Now no further comments from me… Here is the email I received.

These are possibly  5 of the better sentences you’ll ever read:
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for,  another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government  cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.
Can you think of a reason for not sharing this?  Neither could I……

Open letter to President Obama

President Obama-

I wanted you to know, not that I think you will ever read this, how I feel about the changes I see in America. This will not entail name calling, or the like as I am so way past that at this point in time.  President Reagan said ” are you better off then the last four years”, well sir I will address that question this way. No, I am not better off in the last two years and 8 months, that you have led this nation.

You and your administration has made it difficult in these ways for me personally.  First of all, gas prices are killing what little money we do get into this household at this time. And at this time I don’t see any relief in the future near or far. It is to the point I don’t drive much out of the town of Albany, Oregon as it is too costly to do. And I am seeing more and more bikes, and people walking to where they are going here. This isn’t a good thing as this isn’t an inner city area, as I hope you recall from your campaign visit here from the election that brought you into the office of President. But honestly, I highly doubt you remember that as it isn’t of importance to you.

As far as other things that have gotten worse with your election and the time you have been in office that personally affect me. Sir it is about the food costs, I recall not less than two years ago I was able to get two cans of green beans for a dollar. Two weeks ago, I went to the store and got one can for $1.39 and then today same can, same store it is now $1.89. Please explain this one as I can not figure out the cost increases that I have seen. But the media who adores you won’t speak of this. They just mention that you can save money with coupons, this is insane.  As yes you can save money that way but it is now to the point of you have to do it just to survive!

And then the First Lady mentions about the obese and how it is taking over the country. Well, if you weren’t so rich yourself you would see the real issue with this one. Cost of food has gone up, and more importantly the cost of healthy food is even higher. You and your wife want people to lose weight but I have seen an increase of Top Raman and Hamburger Helper being bought in the stores. And fewer items which lead to healthy eating now being purchased. Even simple ground beef has increased in value.

And you and your wife have the gall to take many vacations, golf trips, “campaign trips”, while the rest of the country have gotten down to “staycations” or like my family no such thing as any vacation. You and the liberal followers of yours say it is the rich that is taking money from the poor. I say no, Obama it isn’t that way. You have set this up so business men and women will look like greedy people by the rest of the country. And let’s be honest you fall in the category of being rich, so you are one of the bad guys by your own admission. Explain how you’re concerned about me when you really don’t care you just want to push your agenda onto everyone in this nation.  All the while you get the attention and praise that you desire.

Now to get to the bottom line on this, now you are out there claiming you will make jobs. Hello, I have been on a job hunt since early this spring, only got two interviews. And both of those ended up being ones that I didn’t qualify for. One job I applied for had 100 openings and over 2000 people applying for those jobs. So no the jobs haven’t grown with your leadership ( not that you lead ).  And honestly not that the media would say this, but we as a nation are in another era of Stagflation.

So don’t go and spout off how you are saving the American people. You are not, but you are doing the direct opposite. Don’t brag how you are exposing the greedy rich, as you are just has bad if not more so then the one you are making the comments about. I am not proud you are my President, and I give you that title but say between clenched teeth. As you have not taken the American people or this great nation seriously but are on an ego trip instead.

I am counting the days left before I cast a vote against you. And I will do anything to support and encourage those who will follow in my foot steps. So please quit taking up air time to glorify yourself, and try to do what you were hired for. As if your job which as President you have now, where a private sector job I would have fired you months ago. And just gracefully and quietly leave the office of President to someone more qualified.  I am sick of the liberal element in this country, and you are the liberal’s golden boy.

Thanks for nothing, sincerely-

Kathy Hagle

Doves….

“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves. ”  Matthew 10: 16

As of late  doves have been visiting my backyard again. But instead of the brief visits that they have done in the past, they are staying longer and actually coming in closer to the house. What has changed to make this happen? It was a change in the food that we have been giving our pet birds, which in turn we toss out the back door for the wild one’s to eat the left overs.

Just like the doves have noticed the change in the food and activity at our home, as Christian’s we need to watch the happenings around us. Always being a reflection of Christ, but being wise to the season and times in which we are in. There is no mistake we are living in the end times, you see it everyday in the news that is reported by the media and social networks.  And with that we need to be as innocent and cautious as the doves that visit me daily.

The doves, will feed but if anything is out of the norm they will disappear as quickly as they had appeared. And like wise we too need to know the best time to leave a given situation. This is a time of sword, and strife and we need not be afraid of what will happen. But on the other hand we need to realize when we need to back off and think things over. Using the Holy Spirit as a guide in our lives is the best way to do this. And just like the doves we will reflect God’s spirit all the while but not placing ourselves in an unnecessary risk.

We have been born for such a time as this. Christians need to be a witness to a world in need, but God wants us to use wisdom in how we go about our lives. Ask God today for that wisdom which is so needed now. There are so many voices and opinions that are shouting for our attention and action. But just like the doves that visit me, be cautious with things. See if it stands against God’s words of wisdom, as then you will be able to know how to handle each situation that approaches you.

iPad test

This is a test working off the “borrowed” IPod of my hubby. As I wanted to see how this works, as I am considering on getting my own some time soon. It seems to work just fine and I think this will work for now. When I can get the time with this IPod.

Anyway I will be getting back into the stream of things with writing. This might be the inspiration I have needed to get back to writing. The keypad is something to get use to but once you get the fingers placed right it is ok. And I am able to write from the kitchen table instead of being left in the office area.

I am glad that I found this app and got Andrew the iPod as I thought it was just another techie toy but even I am able to use this for many things. Including a menu planner, this WordPress app, have a comic book reader and I am even thinking about using a diabetes app to keep track of my numbers. Oh and never forget the beloved “Angry Birds” as we all need to lay now and again.

Finally I am considering a theme for my blog. Something that will peek the interest of my readers the few that I have at this time. So if any of you can think of something please feel free to let me know. Until then I will run some ideas by my family and friends.

Over and out for now-

Breeding,owning pets, and animal rights

This will be a post that I might get heat from. But considering a lot of things that I feel are important and over looked I feel it needs to be addressed. I have bred animals (namely rabbits), own pure bred dogs, bought pets from pet stores *gasp* which is all that the animal rights groups scream about daily.  According to what you read from these groups, humans are these horrible terrible no good very bad thing compared to the rest of creation. We harm animals often, are a blight on this planet, we have bred animals for the purpose of eating meat, and take away land from the animals.

Here is what Peta has to saying about pet ownership.. “  it would have been in the animals’ best interests if the institution of “pet keeping”—i.e., breeding animals to be kept and regarded as “pets”—never existed. The international pastime of domesticating animals has created an overpopulation crisis; as a result, millions of unwanted animals are destroyed every year as “surplus.” found here at this link.

Reading this article even further you are lead to believe even “good” owners are horrible creatures, making the animals suffer in cages, drink dirty water, been  ”forced” to hurry along on walks outside, and of course they have to use a cat box which is dirty. Now looking around at my own pets, ( yes I call them that though they are part of the family ) I have two corgi’s sleeping at my feet, my parrots receive free flight at least three times a day, as well as treats of fresh fruit and vegetables at each meal I fix at home, and my 18 year old cat was given a heating pad when she was stiff just this last week so her joints wouldn’t bother her.  I don’t see any suffering from any of the animals in my life.

As for farming, I was raised around this sort of thing on a smaller scale. Here is PETA’s take on farming found here, of course they want you to eat a vegan diet like they do. Now for the kicker here , I have been on a quest for healthy eating and I have found things about soybeans which would make your toes curl. Findings like this article I have found here  and research done here. Now reading what I had with the health aspects of the soybean, I decided on my own to check my animals food products. Surprise, surprise I found soy in the Chinchilla’s food, the birds food both pellets and in the seed mix as well as some dog food has it in it.  Going on this more I found that the fed given to most of the commercial animal feed has soy in it. Are you getting the idea, this whole society is now laced with soy and soy products, so now I am taking to making my own foods at home as much as possible.

As for farming, the slaughter of animals isn’t a pleasant sight, and quite frankly I think as a society we have been taken away from this part of getting food from farm to table. First of all, those animals which most will consider cute are not always that way, I have known from personal fact that a mother sow will lay on, stomp to the ground her own piglets. Hence that is why they have a board in the pens to give the piglets a safe hiding place. And my grandmother raised chickens, and I found the reason why mother hens are protective. The other chickens will if given a chance kill and eat the chicks! My Grandmother had a separate cage for the mother hens and their chicks. So animals are not as compassionate as PETA and the animal rights groups would have you believe.

As for the slaughter process, it is gross, yes blood will flow, the meat has to be dressed and cut. It is a pretty sight, no but if you were given a choice between surviving by eating Bambi or going hungry I am sure Bambi will be served. HOw come in this western society we can watch a horror film and not bat an eye. But freak out with the fact chickens, pigs and cows make it to the dinner plate. IN the book “Little House in the Big Woods”  Laura Ingalls describes Pa slaughtering a pig to turn around and cure the pigs bladder for the girls to play ball with.  I could see the up roar now from that one.

Finally on breeding not only dogs, and cats but also farm animals. First of all, the breeder which we purchased our corgi’s from was warm and open. We were able to see the place the dogs were bred and born in. It was a working farm, which the adult dogs worked the sheep in the field.  Momma Corgi had a huge pen all to her self and her pups which was about eight all together. The favorite breeds are easy to find, but the rarer the breeds the harder it is to find them. Here is a link to the AKC and responsible dog ownership, which I think sums up my thoughts.

Lastly an unknown view of the world of farms and livestock. It is the heritage livestock, we are familiar with the white turkey’s, the spotted milk cows, and the pink pigs which the larger farms bred for the dinner table. But were did the turkey go like what we see in the Thanksgiving images? And did you even ever stop to think about this. There are many farm animals threatened and soon to be extinct in our world due to the lack of knowledge of their vary existence.  Here is there mission and what this group of farmers is about on this link. Cruise through the site, and look at the breeds of animals that will disappear from our world, which the animal rights groups don’t speak of.

Animal deserve to be cared for with respect and honor. But the extent and the direct assault towards humans, and the domesticated animals that are in our lives these groups pose s a threat. Since  3,000 BC. or even earlier animals have been intertwined with human life. Are we to roll over to a radical group and let centuries of common sense and care go to the way side? Cats for generations have warmed the lap of their owners, dogs have hunted along side and protected families since before the beginning of America, And we can all look back to the family cow giving her milk to the family. Or do we follow Ingrid Newkirk’s  idea like she is quoted here saying… “ Humans have grown like cancer. We’re the biggest blight on the face
of the planet.” Ingrid Newkirk Founder, PETA Reader’s Digest, June, 1990

This isn’t about having animals around our lives, but it is honestly a world view that is being crammed down our throats.  And the bottom line of any of these animal rights groups is to make humans low lives, and something that would better off being dead. Getting rid of the breeders, pet owners, and farmers are just the start. And this is just another way to have society to except eugenics as the norm. Last but so not the least here is an article showing how bizarre PETA can get in thoughts found here.

Way to earn a few cents….

I am not one for quick get rich schemes, or do I fall for them. But I have found what I think are ways to earn some vacation money, Christmas funds, or just some extra cash. I will touch on these here and show you how you can link up to me with them. Granted they are not huge money makers, but every cent counts right?

I belong to Varolo, Cha-Cha, and a new on now as well called “Reserve your Cup”.

I have earned about 80 dollars with working Cha-Cha as a guide. It is where you answer questions texted to the service. I get about 3 cents a questions so you can tell it is just small cash I am talking about here. But like I said before hey it is a penny that is earned. So if you want to find out if you qualify to be working with Cha-Cha go here and register for it here Cha-Cha and don’t forget to add my email address as the kathyhagle@comcast.net as a referral.

Varolo- Is a site where you view commercials and earn a small bit of cash when doing so. You grow your village as you go and the your village as well as your earnings/ points grow with it. So far I haven’t seen much money from it, but my village is grow fast, and I have to give it more of a shot as it is just now starting up. If you want to see a video and sign up for it HERE is the link for you to follow. Then you can be in my village as well as grow your own. Let me know how you are doing with this as I think this is a good thing in the making.

Finally there is Reserve your cup, it is all about coffee. I am not completely sure of this one, but why not give it a try at well. Here is a signup for it if you are interested in checking it out. Why not as it will not hurt, huh?

And in all of this let me know your thoughts and opinions as well as finds like I have mentioned about above. As I am always interested in new things I can do to earn a few bucks here and there. Best wishes in all you do!
